Project Story

As part of a new 188,000 SF aluminum body manufacturing plant on Knapheide Manufacturing’s corporate campus, Christner designed the new office building attached to the plant. Knapheide’s new line of military-grade aluminum truck bodies are manufactured in the new facility. The new plant is located directly south of the company’s existing facility designed by Christner in 1995.

The Work

A dynamic and signature Knapheide red canopy feature highlights the entry and the lunchroom. An atrium lobby provides the main entrance to the offices and conference room. The site design includes exposed aggregate concrete paving to match the granite entrance at the corporate offices, landscape feature walls and planting, and custom signage.

The positive impact of the new facility not only creates a multitude of new jobs, but also reinforces a sense of pride in the community and the Knapheide brand, which first set down roots in 1848.
