Design that addresses practice and teaching demands
Project Story
The Center for Outpatient Health is a 322,000 square foot medical office building that combines a mix of private and public clinics, physician offices, and corporate offices in an academic setting. Responding to the programmatic needs for clinic and teaching space, the owner and design team analyzed a number of space scenarios and concluded that a 12-story building would maximize the potential of this important urban site and appropriately express the BJC “brand.”

The Work
The demand for convenience and efficiency for private practice physicians and the practical clinical experience for resident physicians is addressed on the clinic floors, occupying floors two, three and four. A retail component is included on the first floor, along with the building lobby. The remainder of the floors are reserved as office space. Separate elevators serve the clinics and the corporate floors.
Clinics included in the Center for Outpatient Health are dermatology, general surgery, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, OB/GYN, psychiatry, urology, and surgical care center.
