Ambitious design with an aggressive project schedule
Project Story
Varsity Tutors, a growing tech sector company that provides remote learners access to high quality instructors, is relocating their headquarters office to a 10,000-sf suite in the Commerce tower in Clayton. The suite will feature a mix of private offices and open office spaces, as well as conference spaces, and multi-purpose collaboration areas. At one end of the suite, a Café Commons will be used to host events and will provide a valuable pre-function area for the boardroom. Access to the boardroom will be through an opening wall system, allowing the entire space to flow directly into the Commons when retracted.

The Work
Christner Architects helped to facilitate an aggressive project schedule by implementing the following strategies:
• Documentation broken up into two packages with an early permit set issued in order to establish priority in the building department queue
• Compliance meeting held early on with the Building Department in order to verify all critical life safety dimensions
• Contractor brought on to the project early and worked collaboratively with Christner to review specifications and identify any long lead time items that could disrupt the project schedule.
• Typical architectural submittal review turn-around shortened from 10 days to 5 days.
